MINORITY
LAW DAY WORKSHOP SCHEDULED FOR JANUARY 21 AT WESTERN NEW ENGLAND COLLEGE SCHOOL
OF LAW
Western
New England College School of Law will host a “Minority Law Day Workshop” on
Saturday, January 21, 2006, from 9:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m., at the S. Prestley
Blake Law Center on the College’s main campus. The goal of the workshop is to
educate minority and diversity students about the law school application
process and to answer frequently asked questions. It is sponsored by
Western New England College School of Law, University of Connecticut School of
Law, and New England School of Law. The workshop is free and open to the
public; however advanced registration is required by contacting Michael A.
Johnson, Western New England College School of Law Assistant Dean and Director
of Admissions at admissions@law.wnec.edu
or 1-800-782-6665. Lunch will be provided for all attendees.
The Minority Law Day Workshop will allow underrepresented groups to receive information in an informal setting, while learning in an interactive, hands-on environment. Experienced admissions professionals from area law schools will lead sessions regarding the application process and terminology, Law School Admissions Test (LSAT)/Law School Data Assembly Service (LSDAS), personal statements and addenda, letters of recommendation, and financial aid and scholarships. Prospective students will also interact with current minority and diversity law students. The workshop will differ from traditional open houses and information sessions in that the information discussed will focus on the application process and issues that students face early in their collegiate years (or, in some cases, many years later). Students should find the information useful regardless of where they decide to apply or where they are in the application process. n
