“WHO, WHAT, WHERE AND WHY”

The Bible says the last shall be first and the first shall be last so let’s start with “Why?” Why is there a need for a Gospel Music Industry Column? Simply, proper information breeds knowledge and knowledge is truly power. This column will provide the community with information and experiences about what is going on nationally, regionally and locally in the gospel music industry. Keeping the community informed is half of what is needed to grow. The other half is doing something with that information.

“Where?” – Right here. I commit and dedicate myself to delivering a quality column in every issue of Point of View.

“What?” – The contents of the column will be inspired by God and will give reliable information that you can grow with. My intent is to present a positive outlook on the business of the good news of Jesus Christ through song. God has called us to uplift the community not to tear it down. Here is a place to get out the story of His glory.

“Who?” – It is all about GOD! He is the alpha and the omega but we must, as my pastor notes, work the middle. Look for God in every aspect of your life. If he is not there, you must move or put Him there. You never want to be in a place where God isn’t. I am honored to be in a place to serve God’s community. God wants us to be a servant of Him and serve His people. Understanding your place and the position that God has put you in is key.

Gospel Music Industry Shake-Up

Recently there has been a shift in the Gospel Music Industry. Three or four companies govern 60% of the major part of this industry. All of these companies have had some major movement of movers and shakers. People in executive positions have left, contracts have not been extended or renewed, and an entire company has folded and been bought by another company. Whenever there are changes of the head, there are bound to be some different results from the body. Corporate has truly infiltrated Gospel Music. I would admonish you as you do the business of God for His kingdom to make sure your business is in order. Don’t be so heavenly minded that you are no earthly good. God is a God of balance. I don’t know what the results are going to be from this great shake-up but we are going to stand by and see what color the walls are going to be when the dust clears.
