The book, which contains three short stories told from the point of view of a 10-year-old boy, is the first in what will be a series. The event took place on Sunday, October 22nd at Khi & Eli’s Food for the Soul, 882 Sumner Ave., Springfield, MA. Brenda’s Child read from and signed copies of Dwayne’s World, a third-grade reading level book that also introduces new vocabulary and provides discussion questions about stereotypes, racism, the loss of a parent, and blended families.  “This book is important because in 2016, only 22% of children’s books had a person of color as the protagonist,” says Brenda’s Child. “Dwayne’s World encourages text to self and text to real world connections that makes reading meaningful.”
