Featuring inspiring stories from local patients and families

SPRINGFIELD –  Hattie Avigliano spent the first months of her life in the NICU at Baystate Children’s Hospital, arriving in the world 3 ½ months early and fighting for her life. Seven-year-old Zachary Roy was admitted to Baystate Children’s Hospital to treat multisystem inflammatory syndrome after battling COVID-19. Four-month-old triplets Paul, Brandon, and Jackson Dube entered the world at 10 ½ weeks before they were expected.

These children and their families will share their miraculous stories of surviving and thriving during the 21st annual 94.7 WMAS Radiothon to benefit Baystate Children’s Hospital

Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, the event will not be held at the hospital this year, but broadcast live from the WMAS studios for two days on March 8 and 9 from 6 a.m. to 6 p.m.

94.7 FM WMAS on-air personalities – led by the Kellogg Krew of Chris, Dina, and Lopez – will fill both days with encouraging stories and listeners will get to know the professional team from Baystate Children’s Hospital, who care for their kids, their grandkids, and their neighbor’s kids.

The public is encouraged to call, text, or go online to donate. Listeners can call to donate  via the Lia Auto Group Phone Bank at 413-794-1111, go online at WMASKIDS.com, or text WMASKIDS to 36413. “The generosity of donors during the Radiothon helps support the care of our youngest heroes at Baystate Children’s Hospital – the only accredited, full-service children’s hospital in western Massachusetts,” said Scott Berg, vice president of philanthropy, Baystate Health, and executive director, Baystate Health Foundation. “The stories that are shared during this event represent the work being done within our facilities every day, and the donations made stay local to support children right here in our community.”

Last year over $251,679 was raised and Berg noted the entire Radiothon team is  “counting on the community to help raise even more for local kids this year.”

Baystate Children’s Hospital is one of 170 fundraising Children’s Miracle Network Hospitals across the country.  Children’s Miracle Network Hospitals are unique in that 100% of all money raised locally goes directly to Baystate Children’s Hospital in Springfield in support of children’s health programs and services. Major sponsors for the Radiothon include Health New England, Lia Auto Group, and Pioneer Valley Credit Union.

To make an online donation today, visit WMASKIDS.com, or for more information, email Heather Clark, event manager, at Heather.Clark2@baystatehealth.org.
